Description

Viewed through a diasporic lens

Every work is signed and inscribed with the coordinates of where the timber was discovered and its species

The piece uses humanities natural tendency to see faces in inanimate objects to question the value of ancient artifacts and confront our own mortality and aging process

And a series of mistakes

Mycenae V Photography Viewed through a diasporic lensMiguel's ongoing Mycenae series is inspired by feeling, history, myth & imagination, and was born during the Covid pandemic. Miguel wanted to work on a large scale looking for an expansive & gestural painterly language, but the series was also a search for the freedom & optimism that reality did not allow. The series also reflects Miguel's interest in colour, texture & materiality. The paint in these pieces is mixed with impasto medium & marble dust
