Made from wood this mold would be pressed into sand to form a negative space, into which molten metal would be poured to create the machine part. These molds were acquired from Webster & Horsfall a 300 year old factory ( still running to this day ) in Birmingham renowned for producing steel cable. They produced some of the strongest cable in the world,
