Ashe wrote this work, Divine Contentment, to demonstrate the Christians duty in being submissive to Gods providences. This is every Christians holy and gracious duty in this life, and the manner of a Christian is found chiefly in his disposition of being in a holy frame of contentment. Ashe says in opposition to contentment, that
